Nellie + repost
I didn't have the best light for this image of Nellie Crk Falls, but hit the color just about right. Considering the brightness, I did have to combine two images to get the falls' exposed correctly.
As always, critiques most welcome.

I think you did a nice job of framing the falls and the colors look good. I would like to see a little longer exposure of the falls though. All in all, considering the time of day, it's a nice image.

I'm with Michael. I like the framing a lot, esp. how the turbulence from the lower falls is framed between the two branches.
You handled the exposure well, too. A separate longer exposure for the falls only might have been an asset, but overall, I think this is quite good. Larger version is a must see.

Yea, I agree, wish I could have used a slower shutter speed. Fully intended to use my ND filter. Well, as luck would have it, I had a new lens on this trip. When I grabbed my ND filter, it didn't fit! Yes, different filter size on the new lens. Stupid me.

Although I realize soft light would have been best on this image, but there are times bright sunshine is really quite nice. In this scene, the aspen leaves just glowed. Obviously, I lowered the exposure to try to capture some detail in the brightest portions. However, as you can see, it just doesn't reflect the brightness of the leaves. If anyone knows a good technique to capture mid day light and detail, please let me know.

Ken, the histogram shows a little underexposure. You might try adding some midtone contrast and local contrast/imagepolish, and bump the yellow saturation. Did you use a CPL?
I like how you have framed the falls.

Doug, no I didn't use a polarizer.
So, I did up the mid contrast and saturation. It is getting closer to how vivid it really was!

Much better!! Good catch, Doug.

Yes, repost solves things quite nicely.
