Anyone have info on the Bosque del Apache conditions this year?
Thanks -

From my perspective conditions are the same as last year.... too far away Sorry, just finished my annual process of giving it serious thought but defering to the non-photographer opinion in the household on where we should go with our last week of vacation for the year

there's always your first week of vacation for 2013, Dan. January at Bosque is great too!

Hi Sandy. I'm at the refuge all this week co-leading a workshop. Arrived this afternoon. The refuge looks pretty good so far. I can report back after a couple of days of shooting to let you know more.

I was there last week and it was good. It was my first time so I was impressed. The Sandhill were there, snow geese, all kinds of ducks, blue heron, Canada geese. I have nothing to compare it to, but I was very satisfied with the shots I got and would go back in a heart beat.

I was planning on heading there right after Thanksgiving. Does anyone know if it's still active then?

Sandy: I just talked to a ranger at the park. Friday's bird count was 6,500 cranes. I will increase up to 10,000 cranes by the first of December and they start to leave in late December.

Bob: Bosque is usually good from Mid Nov till early/mid Feb depending on temps.
I think I'll go Dec 26 thru about Jan 2-3 - anyone else going to be there? I'd love to meet up -

Sandy, I'm headed over there for this Sunday noon. Glad to see Bob Maynard's report of 6,500 Sandhills. I'm sure there are even more Snow Geese. Oddly enough, Friends of the Bosque website only lists these species as "present."
