I made a trip down to White Sands in order to shoot some footage for a music video. I hiked out to the west filming side of the park and took a bunch of stills as well. The storm to the north and strong winds kicked up a lot of dust/haze which made for some cool lighting as sunset approached. Here's the collection of images: (sorry, havent had time for titles etc...) I pretty much already know the 4 or 5 good ones, so just thought id share the rest.

I enjoyed looking at the selection. You have quite a variety of light and shadow. I really like the one that looks like the suns corona on the edge of the dune.

Great collection Stan! I am particularly drawn to 1140, the layers upon layers and the distant mountain silhouette is really captivating.

A fine collection from a "fine" sandy place. Beautiful light, color, and textures in almost all of them. The best of the lot for me would be #s 1138, 1159, 1150, and 1152.
Nice set, Stan and I'm glad to see you had some good clouds to compliment the outstanding dunescapes. I'd recommend giving each a title, not the ethereal kind, just a straightforward title and caption. Although repetitive, people who may never get to WSNP will benefit from your experience beyond the images.

Hi Stan, nice work man. I'm not gonna pick a favorite because all of them speak to me. I guessing you're already dreaming of heading back there....

Very nice series! I especially like White Layers, White Imagination, White Hightlights...

Stan, if i were to pick only two, Sensual White and Layers of White would get the nod. White Imagination is cool also.

Dave, should we let Stan settle for Quandary? How about a 14er with a view of the Crestones? Come to think of it, Quandary might be a good one to get acclimated for something like Humboldt. Making Quandary's summit before sunrise would certainly be interesting....I'm down with this idea Stan.

Actually Humboldt was my first choice, but having never climbed it i would want to scout it before attempting a Winter attempt cause im not sure about all the slopes there (and i keep picturing those shots of poor Talus Monkey on the summit in May...) I was gonna head up there yesterday but i went to the dunes instead (cause im 20 lbs overweight and it's celery sticks and chicken for me this Winter... )
