G'day, mates!
So, it's been awhile since I've posted anything here, but I've been busy and can't really say that I'm living in the MWNP region for the time being. My family and I moved to Invercargill, NZ in August for a year and we're loving it here!!!

Yesterday, I was out with my kids driving and walking around the south coast of the South Island. We stopped at a place called Curio Bay, which we had visited on our first weekend here. This time, though, it was a bit warmer and more pleasant! We saw this group of people walking around on the rocks and I saw a couple of stubby little people walking amongst them - in tuxedoes! :) When I realized what we were seeing, the kids and I were transfixed.

This is a hoiho or yellow-eyed penguin (Megadyptes antipodes), one of the rarest in the world. It had just come out of the sea where it had been fishing (I presume) and getting ready to get back onto its nest and give its mate a meal break.

We've been doing a LOT of traveling while here and there's much more to do. If you're interested, I have a blog that's available at the front of my website, where I've been posting occasional pieces:

Enjoy,

Tim!

Sounds like you are enjoying your stay in NZ, Tim...lucky you to have the chance to see the country. Can't say that I've heard of this particular Penguin, so it's a pleasure to see this one. Great shot!
