D7000 300mm f4 + TC14e ISO 250 1/500s at f7.1 monopod. Cropped from landscape
Came across an otter yesterday but it was a very cautious animal and the first click of my camera saw it dive never to be seen again. However a very inquisitive Common Seal decided to check out the strange figure on the shore. I kept it's attention by moaning in a seal fashion (anyone passing would have thought someone was dying! ) and it would swim closer and occasionally would rise vertically out of the water to try get a better view. This image was perhaps its highest out of the water and I assume its back flippers were not on a submerged rock! I know whales and dolphins spy-hop but I didn't know that seals also do it. You learn something every day.
Many thanks for your comments on my last post and all C+C warmly welcomed.

An unusual shot Nick. Whats the purple colour under the chin? Dont know much about seals is it natural or a reflection of somehting?
