I again have to appologise for the completely messed up view numbers on my posts. I have been keeping a record every 5 minutes since 7 0'clock and there is definately a software or brain problem out there somewhere. I really do fail to see any possible reason or logic behind this especially as admin say there is no software problem.
Please ignore the figures. I am not that good.

"I am not that good."

Yes you are, John, although I have to agree that a software problem is the most likely explanation.

Very nice fungi image JR. They look nice and fresh.

No need to apologise. If you take my advice don't get hung up over the viewing figures I never bother to take much notice of them anyway and my guess is most folks don't, least ways the ones who actually contribute to the forum.

Nick. :toast: :wavey:

Hi Nick
Thanks
I don't normally bother but just take a look at the viewing figures on this picture. It cannot be correct.
I am the kind of person that needs an answer to a problem and I cannot get one on this issue, so I start to get a little p....d off
Cheers

I know who is behind this but cannot prove it yet.

No reason to keep tabs every 5 minutes, forget about it and go and take some more photos……let me explain

If there was a software problem then it would be affecting more accounts than just yours. If it were a problem at your end then you would be causing the problem on everyone else’s threads that you read!

Unfortunately you are the victim of some rather childish individual who wishes to waste some of their precious few years on this planet holding down the F5 key to refresh their browser and increase your page views in the hope of annoying you presumably.

As this individual is such a “fan“ of your work then it seems appropriate to supply them with more of it J, that way you can ensure they can maximise their wasted life time.

Disappointing that the admins haven’t taken care of the situation, there are plenty of tools available for tracking down idiots eg

Superb image John. :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast:

I'd just ignore the viewing figures. Its easy for me to say this, but its best not to feed the troll. I agree with Graham though, the admins should have sorted this. Web server log analysis would soon find the perp.

Well John, hopefully you might believe us now someone else who isn't a moderator has told you the same thing that we've been telling you for some time!

As to Admin's delving in to website logs, I'm sure Jim will have them do so if he deems it necessary for the continued smooth running of NPN. And as it's Thanksgiving holiday in the USA, I'm sure he (and the Admins!) would rather be spending time celebrating with his family at the moment...

You never know, the Troll's fingers might eventually drop off from overuse... or their F5 key disintegrate or stop working

True Nick
I do have a friend who is into it and this log stuff etc so it will soon be sorted. It might be thanksgiving etc over there but I do pay my subs and this whole business is making me ill- so who gives a toss ?

Nick, I'm sure its having some impact on the NPN bandwidth, so there is a driver? But, I'm a cursed IT admin myself and I expect the log trawl would be an involved piece of work. But with the greatest respect to Jim and the admins, as this is a paid for forum, stuff like this should be stamped out. John is obviously distressed by this too.
Posted by Nick on November 23, 2012 at 6:17 PM
I'm not sure it'd actually do that much on the bandwidth Paul. NPN is a big site and gets an enormous amount of traffic hits from all over the world and the UKNP forum is only part of the picture. If the 'views' are from the same machine/IP, chances are it'll be cached in several places down the line and it'd actually be the trolls own broadband allowance that is being used (if their PC isn't caching it too!).

John, if it's affecting you that much, then I'd suggest you take a break for a little while and allow yourself to de-stress a bit as you're only allowing them to beat you by getting wound up about it!
Posted by Paul Whippey on November 23, 2012 at 6:39 PM
Okay, the total bandwidth is probably minuscule, if they are caching. But technical issues aside. Surely if a paying member of NPN complains about misuse, something that is within the abilities of the site admins to stop, should be stopped? Asking John to take time out, when he pays for this service isn't helping him much IMHO. Its not really sending the right messages to the wider membership either.

Paul,

Anytime a user contacts us with a complaint, it is always acted on. If it is within our power to doing something about the complaint, then we do it. Rest assured, John's complaint is being looked into.

I hope so Nick - I detest bullies in every way, and for John to have to take a break means who ever it is has won.
