Meet my friend ISAIAH
An encounter to remember did you ever have that feeling you were being watched eye did.

On a plain old wooden bench a chance meeting we were eye to eye.Jumping Spiders (Hasarius adansoni) they can jump up to fifty times their own length so first you see them then you don't. They also have a nasty habit of flicking their hairs at you. Now you try photographing one.

I even have something in common with this species they have two eyes in focus and two eyes with blurry vision they capture their prey with a method called image defocus.

Now that's why we are mates I've often had a problem with the defocus method. They do have the jump on me though.

Canon 5D mk3 1/640sec 180mm Hand Held f/7.1 RAW to Ltroom then resized to post.

Critique, Comments, Advice most welcome.

Thanks for looking stay dry and stay safe.

Hi Barry, like the almost monochrome look & feel, with the 'stripes' running slightly diagonal and the placement within frame. Sadly though I feel the image lacks the clarity and sharpness it requires, was this hand held (HH)? Would have preferred more DOF on the subject. Not sure what ISO you used, but crank it up, the new 5D can take it, likewise the 1DX with excellent results.

Defocus? I often have a problem with deexposure and deISO as well

Yes indeed hand held grab shot, a chance encounter. Looking at the data I messed up big time the ISO 100 on reflection it was one of those quick spot the subject grab camera turn it on and shoot before its gone situations. I need to retrain myself too, having been in a parameter of ISO 400 -800 the new flexibility needs to be pursued.

A quirky little macro shot, I like it! The point of view works really well for this, and the setting/background really sets the subject off. It comes out a bit too contrasty on my (laptop) screen. The way he's looking at you makes it!

Looks fine as is to me but others maybe better placed to offer advice on macro, everyone forgets to turn the ISO from time to time :toast: :toast: :toast:

Great and quirky shot Barry and the post made me laugh. I like the fact you have placed the spider off centre.

An interesting subject Barry but I would like to see more DOF and also a lower POV

Looks good Barry. A lower POV would make this though. :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast:
