I've only just found out (perhaps you already know) that Bruce E. Bayer passed away on the 13th November.
Bruce was the creator of the Bayer colour filter array that forms the backbone of our camera sensors.
We owe it all to Bruce.
RIP

Andy
Just spent an hour reading about the filter array that he invented and didn't understand the first bit of it. ! No matter though- you don't have to understand something to be grateful for it. We take a lot for granted in this world. People don't realise the contriburtion he made to photography.
Cheers

Like John, I find he made a major contribution to digital photography, but don't understand a lot of what he did. Interesting that he was a Kodak scientist, yet it seems that Kodak is one of the major photographic casualties of the digital age.

Kodak invented absolutely loads of brilliant technology, then sold it. If it was not for Bruce I would not have all the kit I have now, and could easily afford a crack habit, is that good or bad?
