We are having a real irruption this year of both (however, they are in everyone else's backyard but mine, so no photos yet)
Anyone else noticing this phenomenon?

Sandy
(East bay San Francisco area)

Same here in Pennsylvania, no siskins in my yard yet, but have several red-breasted nuthatches hanging around.

We have tons here in Dallas too....always had a lot but now they are a whole lot. They love shelled sunflower seeds...no mess too.

There have been more pine siskins here, at least enough for me to be able to get photos as well as a positive ID for the first time in the 8 years I have been photographing at the nature center. Still around, if fewer numbers as of yesterday.

It's a big year for the Siskins here near Olympia, Washington. We have a flock of at least 100 coming to our yard and I have friends that mentioned the same phenomenon at their place 15 miles from here. No unusual number of Nuthatches.

Sandy - they are regulars at spots along the coast here on Long Island - something that never happens!

I am having the most Dark-eyed Juncos in my back yard in the twenty years we have been here in Orange County, Ca. No Siskins or nuthatches.

RB Nuthatches have been coming to the feeders for a little over a month now.
