Food for Thought =+look at this !
Marsh Tit
Nothing special but look at the specs.

Third picture taken with a different camera
Standing in the garden in front of the kitchen.
Bird on a stump about 30 feet away.
Camera Nikon Coolpixp510
Full optical zoom = to about 1000 mm on 35 mill.
Hand held, at 30th sec @f6.9 !!!!!!! 400 ISO
About 80m% of full frame.
Who would have believed this 20 years ago ?
A camera which does about every thing from macro/wide/and large telephoto and about goes in your pocket ! - for £250 quid !!!
Where will it end?
Cheers
JR
Thanks for pics on last post- appreciated.

Where will it end?

In JR buying a D4, a 500mm f4, shooting 14 bit RAW files and processing in LR4 and CS6 is where it'll end         :wavey: :wavey: :wavey: :wavey: :wavey:

Yep, it's amazing what they can shoe-horn into a compact nowadays.

I think Andy means the world will end at that point ;) At this size the pocket cam works just fine.

Niel
This is a big crop and obviously reduced for the web. The original prints pretty good at A4 and as I say it was only the third shot with the camera. (I,m still practising) Its the non need to carry large amounts of gear around that appeals to me. ! You will get there one day !!!
I know people posting worse pictures than this one with gear costing a hell of a lot more than £250. Some pay more than that for a tripod
Cheers

Just to show you what it can do !!!
This is a massive crop with nothing done to it !!!!!!
This is going to change the whole face of "nature "photography.

I hate to say it, but that is better than any nuthatch picture I have got. Perhaps that is indeed the way ahead.
