I know it's limestone instead of red sandstone, but this view through the keyhole at Monument Rocks kind of gave me the impression of looking into a slot canyon. Taken this past June.

That's pretty good vision Ken and a highly unique take on this oft photographed location. Great job "seeing" something different.

I agree with Wayne, great vision and a great photograph, it may be photographed a bunch, but for the sake of an Arkansas, where are Monument Rocks?

Tom, Monument Rocks sit roughly 20 miles south of Oakley (I-70 mile marker 76) in west central Kansas. Like most things in Kansas they are located on private land but they continue to be accessable to public.

Tom,
Here's the National Park Servicelink about Monument Rocks. I just noticed the photo is by our Rob Graham. And this is the wikipedia link. If you're sailing by on I-70 sometime it may be worth a visit.

Interesting composition with lots of detail and texture. I wonder how this would look with some warmer light...just thinking out loud really. Great eye to see this with a fresh perspective.

You caught this with some nice light, Ken. I really like the way that the coolness on the left meets the warm tones on the right.
Pretty amazing feature...I wonder what it is about these spires that cause them to be more resistant to erosion??

Cool shot! I see this place is a National Natural Landmark. Very interesting to imagine it surrounded by thousands of bison, or a passing stagecoach.

Well seen. It does indeed look like a cool slot canyon.
