My wife stunbled across three fox cubs last week whilst out walking in the grounds of the old country house where the company she works for is based. I staked the area out today, and noticing a large dead rat decided to wait and see what happened. After about an hour and a half this little fellow showed up, along with two smaller siblings. It was quite entertaining to watch them try to work out what they were meant to do with the rat - this guy seemed really confused when he pounced on the rat - and it didn't run away!
Unfortunately it was difficult to get a clear shots due to the undergrowth - OOF branches getting in the way - and shafts of sunlight made the exposure difficult at times. I also had to bunp up the ISO to get a decent sutter speed - but hey! - its my first shots of wild fox cubs and I'm over the moon at seeing them let alone photographing them.
I would be inclined to clone the twig infont of the rat running up the lh side but apart from that would be happy with this one,Must have great to watch
Must have been a great experience, and you have the image.... I actually like the way it depicts the environment and the secretive nature of these cubs...
Looks like you went a bit OTT on the Noise reduction (I may be wrong).
You could be right there Phil - I used the Noise reduction in CS2 rather than my normal Neat Image - probably over tweaked it! It got better today - one of the cubs climbed out of the ditch in which the den is situated and approached within the min focusing distance (i.e 1.5m) of the 300! I'll post a pic from the series later.
Didn't occur to me to clone out the twig - I think I was still so hyped up after seeing the foxes that I wasn't actually thinking straight!

Great shot - Like Phil I like the way the image conveys their secretive nature!
