Little Owl

One from earlier in the year, Little Owl sat atop his hunting post.

Hi Andy I like the simplicity of the image and the 'jaunty' angle of the post. There is good detail and depth in the subject, and I like the the kind of squinting look. I'm a little unclear why the feet are sharp, but the post has no real definition at the top with the lichen/moss, i would expect certainly a bit more? Also there seems to be the green cast that runs over the post, removing that, brings back a little more detail, and it looks more realistic and the reveals more of the weathered look. The green I do find a little vibrant, but it's all taste.

Looks like some boxes are still unchecked looking at the profile.

Super image Andy - bird looks sharp where it needs to be, and as for the post, it was covered in green algae and lichen wasn't it ?

Cheers guys, pleased you like it.

Hi Steve, I agree re the DOF on the post and I'm not sure why that is, it looks just the same on the RAW. As for the profile, I will try and post a screen grab of the Convert to Profile box, in the e-mail you sent me ( thanks for the help by the way ) I can't seem to find the check boxes you told me about, so that's probably the reason for the untagged profile.

I like this a lot, especially that direct stare. It may be a little green overall, but that is easily cured.

I think a Sigma SD1M with its Foveon sensor would sort the green post 'problem' next time, IMHO, Andy.
A lovely image despite or maybe even because of the greenish tinge.

Cracking shot, if the moss/lichen was wet it would lose sharpness and definition, Personally I wouldn't worry about that though as teh bird makes up for it :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast:
