I have a feeling there is a touch of blue, but maybe there should be, in the fur and nose area? Awesome intense look though and detail goes without saying!

Yes, that stare is great. I'm glad it's not looking at me.

Merry Christmas, Stephen.

That Burton Geezer would look blue in the nose if he was out there wouldn't he Stevo

Appealing comp - when you've an idle moment try extending to the right a bit, just to bring the eye back to the left a bit.

Have a good Crimbo :toast: :toast:

Thanks Keith, indeed I did. Hope all is good down under and you are enjoying the warmer weather and getting some new stuff in the bag. Look forward to seeing some new stuff rather than the standard LBJ's we constantly get to see. :toast:

Steve
What are "standard LBJ's " ?

It was the LBJ's that kept this forum going when all but a few had left it. These petty
digs are not constructive and are best ignored John.

A well photographed "LBJ" is better to look at than a poorly photographed "exotic" - and a damn good image is a damn good image IRRESPECTIVE of subject matter.

Great subjects are just that - it does not necessarily follow that to photograph them will result in either a great photograph, or indeed a great photographer!

In order to be one of those you first have to know what you are doing............

Stevo, I know you didn't mean that the way it came out matey - I knew I should have bought you that Thesaurus for crimbo

LBJ’s
Stephen-
I have now been informed that the acronym refers to “little brown jobs “
Does this mean then that you think` there is a surplus of such material on UKNP and such subjects are not welcome on this site - as apposed to ” exotic “ stuff, for want of a better description.
That is the message that I and quite a few others are getting from your recent comment.. After all , the title is the UKNP forum , so I assume sparrows and European material is acceptable ?
To be really blunt- I cannot afford to go to Africa , the far North or Australia to get pictures of exotic species, and I have no real desire to. In any case there are perhaps more pics available of Lions , Polar Bears, and Koala bears, etc, etc, than Hawfinches ,Blackbirds,or Song Thrushes, or even House Sparrows. Why are the species from far flung locations so different? Pointing a lens over the side of a boat at a Polar bear is fine , for example – you don’t in all honesty need to be an arctic explorer. !!! (or in actual fact a particularly great photographer) - but in my opinion, its far more difficult to get a decent picture of a Siskin feeding in birch canopy in England for example - have you tried it ?
I find your comment somewhat disturbing as after my nearly 6000 topics and nearly 7000 replies, on this forum .I feel as though I have put about as much into this site as possible, and much of that has been by posting pictures of “little brown jobs,” as you call them.
I know nothing about masks, blends, layers, colour casts, x, y,z cropping, etc, etc and have no desire to. I am just a naturalist with a camera.
I note that there is no guidance in the rules on this site as to what is to be posted, and therefore as a fully paid up member I feel I have the right to post as many pictures of “common” brown jobbies as I wish.
I may or may not continue to do so.
Sorry if you don’t like them.

'its far more difficult to get a decent picture of a Siskin feeding in birch canopy in England for example' - I totally agree John!
