I have put together a list of websites for Bird Sightings and Rare Bird Reports as a resource for birders and bird photographers. The list includes National, California statewide and California regional or county discussion and reporting sites on the internet of current bird sightings and rarities.

Very nice compilation, Sandy. I subscribe to the eBird alerts, and have been on a "wild goose chase" (literally, not figuratively), for the pink-footed goose that has been spotted about 45 mins away from me in New Jersey. No luck, but will keep hunting him!

thanks very much Sandy, I didn't notice the Audubon Eagle Watch on that list.

You might want to add it....you do get eagles in CA., don't you.....LOL

Nick,

Thanks for information I went to the link you have above and found information about the eagle watch program but couldn't find a link with sightings reports.

Yes we certainly do have eagles both golden and bald. Golden eagles even breed not far from where I live in Alameda county across the bay from San Francisco.

Rebecca,

Good luck with the pink-footed goose. Sounds like a scene from the movie "The Big Year"

I am also New Jersey native many years ago but didn't bird back then.

The hot bird in Northern California is the Falcated Duck at the Colusa wildlife refuge. The duck conveniently hangs out by the viewing platform so people don't have do a "wild duck chase"

The falcated duck is back at Colusa? I went up there 4 different times last year trying to find him and missed him every time. He was there "early this morning" "yesterday at dusk" and "15 minutes ago".
Guess I'd better try again!

Thanks for the links!
Sandy

Hey Sandy you should include BirdLog run by Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology and the National Audubon Society. It has one of the best and rapidly growing databases of bird sightings worldwide.
