This is an interpretive photograph I worked with various textures and Nik BW Effects2. As I arrived at Shiprock a front was moving through and the rock was surrounded by swirling clouds, wind, and sand. If fact it was damned scarey for the first time having laid eyes on this magical formation. I tried to bring a little of that awe into this version.

It looks like a photo from 1880. If that's what you wanted--you succeeded!

I kind of like the effect of the processing. It's certainly something different. The sense of awe only slightly comes through for me. It's so heavily processed that I really notice the processing more than anything and the actual scene almost becomes secondary. That's not a bad thing, it just depends on what you're going for.

Definitely cool. It has an antique feeling in the processing and the composition of the image is reminiscent of an era when only a few focal lengths were available to photographers. A nostalgic look of this location for sure!

I like the toned b&w rendering, and the scene itself is great.
The actual texture is a bit heavy for my taste, though. Still, a pretty remarkable capture, Joe!

I agree with Grant's comments. I kinda wish that Shiprock was more prominent.

An artistic rendering. Not true to nature photography, but so what! I like it.

Thanks, guys, for commenting...I havent decided myself if I like it yet. I was not completly happy with the original image so I just started playing around.I must have tired a dozen different approachs...never really ever happy...but, I did learn a few things about alternative processing...it was fun playing.
