Shortie and a Merry Christmas

One from the same session as the last Short-eared Owl shot. Think I sorted the blue cast with a slight adjustment to the WB.

1/60th @ f6.3 +1 stop iso800

Please view the large version, though with that shutter speed, maybe I wouldn't bother.

Anyhoo, I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and all the best for the coming year.

Is this a before or after shot, Andy; is the owl just starting its lunch is it a result of having eaten too much?  I can bet that many people can relate to this picture at this time of year.

All the Very Best. :wavey:

Hi Andy. colour overall looks much better and the scene does have that cold, clean, crisp look. Just watch that the blacks don't start to fill in and begin to choke the darker areas. Think you just need some selective 'opening up' in key parts. Really like the hunched profile and the 'rat/vole' in the mouth is the icing on the cake. :toast:

Hope you get things sorted in the early part of the year, a good investment to parallel the photography. You have the software & kit, learn & use it wisely, otherwise you will be wasting your time and and it will be another 'me 2' image we constantly see.

A fine shortie, Andy. I think I prefer this to your previous posting. Happy new year to you.

Hope you had a good Christmas Andy. This is a superb bit of behaviour caught, although looking at the large version it looks like it might be a little soft due to movement at full size. Still one I'm hugely envious of though! :toast: :toast:

Have a good New Year
