Check out this backpack. I think this is the end of the search for the best photo backpack.

Hey Douglas

I've been lucky enough to get my mitts on this bag during meetings with Think Tank. It is really well designed, and a "technical" backpack, like ones sold in REI for climbers and mountaineers. I've shown it to several landscape photographers and the feedback has been great.

It's not a long lens backpack, but one made for a 70-200 with a body attached, or smaller. You can get to your gear without removing the pack. Some of the footage they had showed a photographer on a pinnacle where removing one's pack would be scary.

After the Kickstarter phase the pack will be available in select retail outlets (March or so). Outdoor Photo Gear is slated to be one of these first retailers, and we are excited to be involved!

Hey Chris thanks for the feedback. It appears that you can get a 300mm in the main part of the bag and thats as big as Id go with this type of set up. I love the f-stop products but this is, I think, even better. Ill watch for its release.

I’ve used my 180 now for 4 trips and had it fully loaded all the way down to just a small kit. I’ve hauled a 500mm(took some wiggling) and a 300 2.8fits easy with plenty of room for other gear.A full size tripod is also really easy to carry with this pack and there are 2 or 3 options. The pack is pricy and worth every penny. The comfort level of the pack is really nice, in fact the best I’ve ever worn and the features are really well thought out and work nicely for a first generation product. I love the fact that you can get into the entire pack and never take it off. Working in salt marshes is a place where this feature will be really handy. Anyway if your looking for a solid backpack to haul photo gear this is a great product and a great company.

I have yet to find anything to complain about this pack, its just prefect. I guess if I had to pick something it’s pricy but then again you get what you pay for.
