What are your New Year's resolutions related to photography?

Mine are the following:

1) Organize my 10's of thousands of film images and scan only the ones that are worthy the best I can.
2) Visit new places with the purpose of photography.
3) Reorganize my website and get rid of the dead wood.
4) Optimize my use of both digital and film so they complement each other.
5) revisit old places with new equipment.

I may think of a few more, but these are the main ones.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

Many thanks for your comments and input as well as your inspiration.

Eva,

Great idea. My main one is to focus on areas I want to learn better in a more organized fashion. Instead of trying to learn a new technique five or more at a time. I will focus on one or two and master them. Then move to a few more.

Happy New Year.

Great idea, Eva. Mine center around mistakes this past year that made me say, "OH NO!.<expletive deleted> "

1. Always leave the camera in an appropriate semi-auto mold; e.g., Av or Tv; to facilitate rapid deployment
2. For DSLR's, never take a great series of images without an SD card in the slot or one without sufficient space
3. For film cameras, never advance film without immediate need to take a picture and remember to rewind before opening to remove the can
4. Never forget to transfer images to HD before reformatting the SD
5. Save copies of all significant RAW files for possible future use, not just final PSD or TIFF form

I may think of more, but these are the main ones I need to remember.

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone...

Thanks for bringing it up Eva..
For me it is learn, learn, learn, practice, practice, practice.

1. Do a better job of reviewing and posting comments on NPN.
2. Attend a couple of the fabulous photo workshops that some of you offer.
3. Force myself to write......more. Even bad writing is better than no writing.
4. Explore and experiment more in the world of flash and artificial light photography.
5. Eliminate any and all excuses for not getting off my butt and out to shoot at every opportunity.
6. Visit as many new photographic areas and locations as economically possible. Life is short!

2. Convert as many poeple as possible back to film; especially large format.
3. Improve marketing of my work.
4. Shoot more, learn more.

1. Go through all the images on my hard drive and delete the dogs - there are a plenty and they're clogging things up!
2. Learn more post-processing techniques on PS, especially TK's luminosity masks, etc.
3. Shoot more! Travel more!
4. Visit some area galleries and other spots that showcase local artists to see if anyone will let me exhibit some of my work.
5. Figure out other venues (magazines, etc.) in which to try to market my work.
6. Make regular posts on my blog.

Happy New Year!

I don't have many, but the ones I do have are important to me.

1. Continue to re-process and re-size images for my complete rebuild of my website - hopefully complete by spring 2013.
2. Shoot more images that please ME, not others. I really fell into a rut shooting images for sale instead of shooting the compositions and subjects that I like to shoot.
3. Look closer, see more, feel more deeply, and try to translate that into meaningful images.
4. Reorganize my folders and files to get rid on dupes and assorted junk on my computer.

I hope everyone here withing the NPN family has a wonderful 2013, and thanks for your participation in 2012!

Got out to take photos more often! I don't really think I need to take more photos per se, but I need to take more hikes and trips and drives....

eva - happy new year to you and all. it's good to set goals for the year and post them above the computer ... the only slightly ambiguous thing about your goals are whether you call poor images 'dead wood' or whether you simply dislike all you old images with 'dead wood' in them ...?!?

for myself, i have two new projects that i'd like to get started, even finish by the end of the year. this demands that i get out to pursue these two subjects. if i do complete the projects, i'll be extremely happy!

all the best for the year, stuart
