I wasn't really excited about going on 4 hours of sleep to drive to Westcliffe this morning, but watching the weather unfold at work last night my excitement grew, cause I knew the light overnight snowfall and clearing conditions would be good for photography. Plus, it helped me preserve a tradition of visiting the Silver Cliff Cemeteries for New Years; I always sem to have good luck with that place, it's one of my favorite go-to locations. As a weather nut, this year was particularly impressive with a potpourri of atmospheric optics. You can see the whole series HERE

Oh dang Stan! That is a great series, I especially like the sun pillar ones! I'll put Silver Cliff on my list of places to visit (including most all of the eastern Sangres)

Beautiful series, Stan, and I especially love that pano at the end. Amazing! Personally, I'd print and hang that.
I was pretty proud of my GOG sunrise till I saw these. Fabulous series, Stan. Thanks for getting up, braving the cold, and sharing these wonderful images with us.

Whoa these are powerful, the black and whites in particular, excellent work!
The last two panos and the sun pillar shots are sick!

Cool images, Stan! As soon as I saw the first shot on your site I immediately thought "Moonrise, Hernandez" -- (probably because it has all the same elements). The color stuff is also really impressive

Wow. Super moody and effective. I love the panorama with the pink mountains and cross of the cemetery. I also like the next color image of the pillar of light, ice crystals and angel that seems to be invoking the scene. Interesting subjects and conditions.
