Hi Philip
a great portrait shot. The colour of the bird is beautiful and the water is excellent. I also would be inclined to clone out the highlight spots.

What time of day is best to get pictures of dippers as I'm plannin to go to areas like Dove Dale this week end. Any grid reference good sites would also be appreciated.
Minor nit is it is a bit too tightly framed for my taste, I would like a bit more space around the bird. Still an excellent image, the detail in the feathers is superb.
Ditto on the grid reference request! Locely portrait. Amazing that it was sharp with 800mm and only 1/60th... great work. Might want to consider the cloning of the sparkles but it is supposed to be a dipper in water after all Beautiful russet colours of the breast plumage.
Hi the grid reference is SD548430 it is called brock bottom just off the A6 get of the M6 at junction 32 at junction 32 you take the exit for Preston which brings you down onto the roundabout drive all the way round the roundabout take the 3rd exit up the A6.
Drive up the A6 about 1.5 miles to a small village called Brock after passing through the village you come to a petrol station selling cars, right before this petrol station (arrow mark1) there is a right turn which takes you back over the motorway and over a rail way line, as soon as you have turned right into this road it goes over a very steep bridge single file traffic only, follow this road to the end and turn right, then follow this road for approximately one-mile on a very sharp bend (arrow mar 2) there is a house facing you on the left-hand side right before this house there is a left-hand turn take this and follow the road until you come to the end of it, at the end of it there is a T-junction turn right at this T-junction there is a sign for Brock bottom.
You Park in the car park and walk about 400 m downstream keeping an eye out for the grey wagtail and dipper if you want to cross the stream take some Wellington boots, it is advisable to cross the stream as the sunlight is behind you then.
Phillip.
Ps on this map turn at No 1 and their house on the sharp bend number 2 this is where you turn left

The golden reflection in the water adds another dimension to the image and the detail in the plumage is superb!
