I really enjoyed 2012 although I had a stretch of about 3 months where I was just not a happy photographer. Highlights include a week out in the Elk Mountains in late September, a few days in Bisti Badlands during the monson season, and a few wonderful trips to Zion and Arches/Canyonlands and a few fantastic backpacks into the deep Gore Mountains. Lowlights include fighting the haze from wildfires from May through August and hitting two deer with my car, on two different occasions...LOL, what are the chances right?

I seleceted the following images based on my personal connection with the shot. These 12 may not technically my best images but in the end I'm going with the overall experience.

Kane,

A fantastic collection. "Perseverence" really grabbed me - great title.

Well, only you can be the judge of that, but I found all of these images technically excellent! Great light and very creative compositions. Even the 'iconic' views were taken from less than iconic angles, making them seen fresh and quite enjoyable.
I wish you a happy, healthy & prosperous New Year, Kane.

I'm with John on this collection. Icons through different eyes and made new, and they all look technically flawless to me. Sorry about your car and the deer. You might want to invest in those deer whistles you mount on the bumper that supposedly keep the deer away.

Outstanding images every one, Kane! :toast:

Outstanding work Kane all around. My particular favorite is 'A Powerful Mountain'. Zen Pools is right up there too, I've only backpacked in the Gores twice and it's been probably 10 years, it's inspired me to go back.

Great set, Kane, and your photographic "style" is evident as they all look good together! (If that makes sense...) I particularly like the Gore Range and Sangre shots.

Zen Pools and Hints of fall just blow me away. The whole set is phenomenal. Quite the year considering the funk you were in

Beautiful work Kane! A Powerful Mountain, Perseverance and God's Handiwork are my favorites. I've never been to the Bisti Badlands, but your photograph is incredible! The light you captured with Crestone Mountian is so beautiful. I love the textures and lighting in Perseverance, great eye!

A portfolio to be very proud of, Kane! My top choices here would be Perseverance, Zen Pools and Powerful Mountain.

Jackson's top three choices above are also mine. Looks like you had a wonderful year in 2012 and I look forward to seeing your work in 2013!
