Ok, first thing - if you have not read Chapter Five - Special Effects, do so now. There are lots of very useful techniques in there to learn that can really help make your image stand apart from others in a creative way.
I want the assignment to focus on long exposures. What we want to do is try creating two long exposure images. One will be motion created by a moving subject - like water. See my waterfall image on page 119 of the chapter. That's a one-second exposure.
The next image I want you to try is motion created by moving the camera! Here the subject is static but the camera movement will create blur. See the image on page 112-113 where the camera is moved - or panned - up and down during a long exposure to create a pleasant blur. This is easy to do.
For both examples, however, you will need to use low light in order to get the longer exposures. You cannot go out in the middle of a sunny day and expect to get long exposures. Try an overcast day or just wait until after the sun sets and it begins to get dark. One second is plenty slow enough to capture moving water and 2 seconds is good for panning trees.

See if you can do this by Friday
Good luck!
