Save the date! The Annual RMNP Shindig will be held this coming February 9, 2013 in Denver at Sign Language, LLC.
Who: Everyone on NPN is invited! If you don’t live in the area, but are passing through, we welcome you!
What: According to the Webster dictionary, a shindig is: A) social gathering with dancing or B) a usually large or lavish party. Our shindig is C) a large-ish social gathering without dancing, but tons of photo talk!
Where: Sign Language, LLC; 275 Mariposa St., Denver, CO 80223. Directions: from both north and south, your best bet is I-25, exit 6th Avenue, going east. Turn right onto Kalamath Street, go three blocks south, turn right on West 3rd Avenue. Go west two blocks, take left turn onto South Mariposa Street. Sign Language is right on the corner. Proceed half a block, turn right into open gate, park anywhere in there or on the street. GOOGLE MAP
Parking: Plenty of parking available inside the fenced in area on Mariposa, as well as on the street of both Mariposa on the east and 3rd just north of the building.
Entrance: Enter at the door inside the gated area; it’s behind all the hanging banners on the east side of our building. The main Sign Language entrance facing Mariposa (275) on the corner will be locked. I’ll have signs up with some directions.
When: February 9, 2013 from 5pm - 9pm
Why: Because it’s fun to meet people face to face after talking online!
We had great success with a potluck format last year so we are going to do that again this year! We will need appetizers, desserts, alcoholic drinks and non-alcoholic drinks. To ensure we don’t end up with all beer and no cookies, I am asking that people commit to one type of thing to bring when you RSVP. I'll be bringing my new jalepeno dip that has been a huge success this football season!
There will be a raffle full of fun things (still working on figuring out what those will be) and our world famous white elephant print exchange!
White Elephant: Bring a print of your work in any size or presentation covered or wrapped so no one can see. You do not need to go to great lengths or expense to bring a print! Everyone draws a number and the numbers are called in a random order. When it is your turn, you can choose a wrapped print and open it, or you can steal a previously opened print. Each print can be stolen a maximum of 3 times! It is great fun to see people's work in print and everyone who brings a print leaves with one.
I hope you can make it! Please RSVP below and let me know if you have questions!

Well, it's been a long while since I've been an RMNP regular, but I'm now back working in Boulder and splitting time 50/50 between CO and Portland. I'll be sure to stick around for the shindig. And since you need alcoholic drunks, I'm game! Oh...wait, alcoholic *drinks*... I suppose I can help there, too. Pls put me down for some Oregon Pinot Noir!

I'll be there. I'll post a little later what I'll bring
Posted by Bob Maynard on January 15, 2013 at 1:46 PM
I'm putting it in my calendar.

Pencil me in.

If Rick Dunn can make it all the way from Florida, I'll plan on swinging down from Estes after I get the gallery closed.

Looks like I MAY be able to make it after all. Getting a knee fixed in 10 days, which will put me off of my regular schedule and on a 8-5/M-F schedule for a while. I'll let you know!

Looking forward to seeing you guys and gals again. Not sure what sort of food I'll bring but I'll have something.
Posted by Steve Wachtel on January 20, 2013 at 2:03 PM
I think I will be around... will be good to catch up with old friends and meet some new!
Posted by Fred Braun on January 27, 2013 at 12:53 PM
Rick, I have no idea where "Florida" came from. I must have had my brain scrambled by watching too much Portlandia.

Responding to the latest post: I'll have a print for the White Elephant. Still haven't had a revelation on what food I'll bring but probably some chili
I'm still planning on doing BBQ beef again. Maybe list what people are bringing next to their names, so undecideds can see what might fill out the list? I'm a maybe on the white elephant. Looking forward to it!
I'll bring a veggie plate for those of us trying to be healthy.

I'm not sure if Erik and I should be allowed in the same room, but I'll probably come anyway, at least for a little while. Looks like there's plenty of food and I'd probably poison everyone if I tried to prepare anything, so I think I'll just bring soda...

I'll be there with some sort of main dish.

Yes, I will participate in the White Elephant exchange.
I wanted to post the map photo to show where its OK to park, along with the entrance location. Hope this helps!
Can't wait to see everyone!
On second thought, BBQ meatballs.
