I was out walking my dog a few days ago & noticed the ice that had formed & piled up at the reservoir. No camera with me, so I figured I'd come back the next day around sunset. But it was 60 degrees, so I thought it would have melted or fallen into the water. The next day I was out there again & saw that the lake, which is much smaller was still completely frozen, so I took my camera with me for some hand held shots.

I was lying on my belly for this, which, of course, pulled all 3 layers up, so it was bare skin on ice.

As I was mucking about, slowly inching my way around on the ice, this leaf landed in this mini ice cave.
I love #2! Just crop that top bg strip and it's golden. #3 is cool, I think it needs a little tighter crop and maybe some highlight control. Real niiiice set, Monika!

#2 is indeed quite engaging. I like that one a lot! Worth a little skin to ice, I would say.
#3 is a real interesting find. I agree with Stan about the tighter crop.

John,
Yes, I do like them better with the crops. It was interesting on #2 because I had initially cropped it like that, but felt that it was too "float-y" & needed the dark but uninteresting band at the top to anchor it, even though I knew the feedback would be to crop it out. Coming back to it later in the day (and with less ambient light in the room) it then looked good. Some day I'll get some window shades :-)
thanks for the c&c to everyone!

cool--yes, much stronger now IMO

The leaf shot is sweet. The crop really helps to concentrate the attention of the viewer and get rid of the unnecessary elements. Great job!
