All you Zenfolio website users out there, what do you think? I never heard of Art.com. Just curious to your reaction or experience with Art.com.

From the email I have from them, it does not say anything about being bought by art.com, I copied the email below....I hope that did not occur, most of the reviews I read about at.com are pretty negative...anyone else have input?? The email..

We are happy to share with you some exciting news. On January 1, 2013, Zenfolio joined the Art.com family of companies. Art.com is the world's largest online retailer of high-quality wall art.

There will be no changes in the way we provide services to you. The great service you have come to expect from us will remain the same.

The Zenfolio business will operate as an independent division, and the team will remain in place and continue to operate from our existing office. The decision to join Art.com was based on sound business fundamentals and joint synergies that would be realized by both companies.

This is an exciting time for all of us here at Zenfolio, but we could never have reached this point without you as a valuable customer. Remaining true to our roots is important to us, and that's why we look forward to releasing many new features for you this year, starting later this month.

If you would like to read the official announcement, please see the Art.com website. And, as always, if you have questions about your service, feel free to contact us at support@zenfolio.com.

Sincerely,

Eva, not a subscriber, but just this news makes me immediately think to warn you and others to read all the fine print regarding image use, rights, ownership, etc. etc. I'm sure it's all going to be on the up and up and Zenfolio will continue to offer the same services, but on the outside chance this is an image or image rights grab, I'd make sure to read the new terms when they come out.

I could be way off base too!

From the email I have from them, it does not say anything about being bought by art.com...

You must not work in the corporate world and speak the lingo. The bought company says " we've joined the xyz corp. family". The buying company says:

Art.com, the world's easiest place to discover, experience and buy art, has announced the acquisition of Zenfolio Inc...

Click on the link in the email and read on.

I guess the questions for us Zen users are whether we will get additional exposure from the parent company's existing customer base, will the excellent customer service continue, will fees increase, or, for the black helicopter watchers among us, do they plan on stealing our copyrights ?

My bet is that fees go up pretty soon. Zen is pretty low cost relative to some of the competition. As to the other questions, time will tell...

In addition to my Zenfolio site, which is my main website, I have some images on FineArtAmerica.com. This may be pure coincidence, but a recent email from FAA touting how wonderful they are made a point of stressing how they were about to overtake Art.com as the most visited art sales site (or words to that effect). Makes me wonder ...

Fine Art America is bragging that they get twice the traffic that Art.com does. I'm going to watch this because I have a Zenfolio site but chose Fine Art America to put some work on that I thought would sell as posters. Different work on the two sites but I'm wondering how Art.com will react to my putting work on a competitor's site while my main gallery is on Zenfolio.

I sent an email to Zenfoilo about my concerns and the copyright issue if there is one and them being able to use our photos without our permission. They said they are passing the email to there supervisors and will get back with me.
I am not one to put down or bash another company, but I am not impressed with reviews on the internet about Art.com.
I too have images on FAA, so far that site has been good to me.
Good question about Art.com allowing those that have photos on Zenfolio and FAA (as I do also) if there will be a comflict? My subscription qith Zenfolio runs out mid month Jan. I would hate not to renew with Zen, I have all of my client photo shoots there as well as some wildlife.
Yes, we will see?

Society today is really bizarre. Change one thing that people are use to and immediately it has to be bad. I find this rather amusing and sad at the same time. Guess there are just many more "the cup is half empty" people than I thought.
