Not Seeing All Printer Profiles in CS6 Print Setting Box

I just installed CS6 as upgrade to CS4 and I have a strange situation. Got all my plug-ins working, got my TK actions installed. Everything's good. Then when I open the print settings as if to print and click on Printer Profiles, the box pops up showing the available profiles but there's no scroll bar on the side so I can't scroll it to see all of the profiles. It pops up exactly like it did on CS4 - including showing the same profiles in the same order - except without the scroll bar. I can't get to a a couple of the profiles that I normally use.

Solutions? Ideas?

Thanks.

Barry - I don't get a scroll bar either, but all of my profiles fit on the screen. Does your list go off the top and bottom of the screen? If so, does just moving the mouse to the top or bottom make it scroll? You can also try using the up and down arrow keys once the list pops up.

Barry, I do not have a scroll bar on the Printer Profile drop-down list either. IIRC, drop-down lists do not have scroll bars by default in Windows. I don't know if that's true on a Mac. Like David, all my profiles show in the list. The Up and Down Arrow keys do work, though.

There are twice as many printer profiles showing on my old CS4 (and with a scroll bar) than are showing up on the CS6. The profiles that do show up are the exact same ones in the same order as CS4 if that makes sense - the problem is that not all of them fit on one screen. The up and down keys do work but don't scroll up above the first profile like I can do in CS4. I can't get to two of my custom profiles that I installed.

After a little googling I might see what the issue is.... but I don't know what the solution is.

CS6 now filters profiles to only show the ones that are appropriate for your chosen printer. This means, as far as I can tell, that the internals of the profile specify

1) the proper color space parameter ("RGB" for most printers, unless you're using a CMYK printer)
2) A profile class of "output" or "printer"

But based on some somewhat long and contentious forums, it looks like there could be other fields involved as well. Several users seem to have the same problem, but I didn't see anything in the way of what to change or fix them. In any case, it could be that your custom profiles are not set properly for CS6.

On Windows (Vista at least - I don't have 7 handy) you can see some of the parameters using the Control Panel "Color Management" application, and selecting the profile in question on the "All Profiles" tab. Unfortunately, I don't have a solution unless you have a profile editing tool. Did you create the custom profiles yourself?

Thanks David. Well, that's annoying - shouldn't be Adobe's business which profile I use, should it?I did not create the profiles myself. I had several done a few years ago when I was using an Epson 2880. When I upgraded to the 3880 I found that a couple of the profiles still worked perfectly well. One of them still shows up in CS6 but the other doesn't.

The other missing profile that I use is simply the Gray Gamma 2.2. With a couple of custom setting adjustments to the print settings I get my best b&w prints using it. For now, I guess, I'll just have to print out of CS4 when I need that profile or find another that works in CS6.

There are definitely some responses from Adobe staff on their forums saying the non-RGB profiles will not show up... this would presumably include the Gray Gamma profile. The print dialog does read the print driver dialogs though; I get different profiles if I set "GreyScale" in the printer driver (Print Settings) dialog.

It is pretty unfortunate... I don't know why they wouldn't provide a setting to turn of the profile filtering so you could do whatever the heck you wanted. They could even bury it somewhere where no one would do it accidentally.
