Shiprock
A While back I posted an image of Shiprock using textures, grain, and sepia. Here is a straight photograph without artsy manipulation. CC always welcome.

Nice sky--I like it! :toast:

Joe, this is terrific! I could see this as a dramatic b&w with no extra sauces.
However, it has a pronounced color cast to it. I applied AutoColor in PS and posted the revision here. I'll remove it immediately if you wish.

Thanks, John...I really like your corrected version better. There was a front moving through and lots of dust was kicking up and the warmer tones reflect this.

Really liked your moody, mysterious shot Joe. I also like what John created by doing a selective color balance as well.

While I liked the sepia tone treatment too, the natural feel of this version is impressive as well. John's color work appears to be an improvement to me as well. Really cool photo!

During the few years I have been coming to the land of the Navajo I have tried to learn about their culture as well as their history...When I arrived very late in the day at Shiprock, and having never been there before, I was very aware of the spiritaul meaning this formation had to them. The hour and a half I was there it went from a puffly cloud late afternoon to a menecing storm laden sky with wind and dust stirring furiously. Of course, logically I knew a front was coming in...but in the deep recesses of my fears I knew the spirits were on the move.and the great stone monster might arisie ...It was a great and memorable experience.

I too prefer the image with the tone correction. It seems to also make the sky more dramatic.

Ooh, I like what John suggests. But, you caught a dramatic moment for sure.
