Raptor Shoot Signup..UPDATE W/MAP

Looks like we have enough folks interested so I sent an email to Devin at Natures Educators. I am looking at the 4th Sunday in February (24th) at the same location as last year in Aurora. It will be $10.00 per person with all proceeds to benefit the organization. I will collect the money on the day of the shoot.

The location is the Jewel Wetlands near Aurora Medical Center and Utah Park...directions to follow shortly. It is just off I-225.

You are welcome to bring a guest but they will also be asked to donate $10.00.

Last year we had a number of wildlife shooters who helped us amateurs with settings and lenses so don't worry if you haven't shot raptors before.

I will contact Anne and see if we can set up a place for coffee and conversation after.

I'll be there.

I will be there as well, if only to help support the operation! I will bring a 300/4, 500/4 and 600/4 (RRS lens plates) so people with a Canon DSLR can give them a try, when I'm not using a particular lens. I'll also bring a big Wimberly with Gitzo 410 tripod for those who want to try the 600 but don't have a tripod/head that can handle it.

I'm surprised we're starting so late. I would rather start around sunrise for better light.

Just confirming the time for the raptor shoot as two of us are interested in possibly driving over from Grand Junction depending on weather. Is the shoot planned for 9:00 am - 11;00 am and could you provide directions from I-225 to the shoot location?

Here is a map of the area Parking is on the south side near the pond.

Take I-225 to Iliff Av exit. Go west on Iliff to S. Peoria, north to E. Jewell, east to Jewell Wetlands Parking lot on left. I will be driving a 2001 Gold/Tan Jeep Grand Cherokee.
