Is it my imagination or are Puffins arriving later this year.? Especially in North Scotland. I keep bumping into disappointed tourists who can`t seem to find them in the usual spots.--Carry a big white lens and they think I have all the answers.
Passage of auks and skuas seemed to be normal on the south coast so not sure why they are late appearing in Scotland etc
Not another sandeel problem I hope - if you recall last year (or was it 2 years ago now!) the warmer seas drove sandeels further north than usual causing a disastrous breeding season for auks and terns in Scotland - or may be we are now seeing the knock on effect now, but auks should live 10 years or so.
