I will be in the Cades Cove area on the above dates. Just wondering if there are any must photograph areas not to far out right now. I will be staying in Townsend. I will be hoping for some good sunrise/sunset photos and doing some of the streams but other than that (and some time shoping with my wife. I open to suggestions.

Flowers will probably be done down there. You might try the trails off the top of the hill at the Wear Cove entrance, or maybe up out of the Elkmont campground (Jakes Creek, etc.). Last week I talked to a guy that got some nice shots of the streams around Tremont (no flowers - just stream shots).

Or, if you feel like it, try getting up higher to try to find flowers.

Thanks Steve. A lot will depend upon the weather and the wife. I know this is an in between time and the photography will be mixed in with just some "getting away" time.

I was up at Tremont the day after Easter and did some stream shots with what dogwoods were there. It was really to windy for the flowers that day so I did not do any of those.

Oh well I'm only about three hours away and can go back most anytime. It will be good to be away from work for a few days.

There is always the deer-probably round ready to pop out fawns.

Well I just got back home. Leann there were plenty of deer but no fawns yet, at least none that I saw. We saw a few black bear but none in a position to be reached for good photos. Turkey are still out and some are still strutting. The laurel is starting to bloom atTremont and around the exit end of Sparks Lane. The most blooms were on the ridge on the right of the loop road across from Sparks Lane. The ridge is one with a lot of downed trees on it though.

The weather as most of you know did not allow for any sunrise photos but the clouds made for decent stream shots. It was a good few days all in all.
