I'm starting to nail down my schedule for the next few months and before I start planning the 3rd Annual Moab Spring Fling I want to check in here to see if there's any interest. So, what say y'all? Should we do it again?

I'd like to work it in.

Yes, as I enjoyed last year's event.

Okay, Okay...I know I missed it last year but I'm always up for this gig. Not sure if you're looking at scheduling yet but with Memorial day on the 27th, the weekend of May 11th or May 18th would be good.

I'd prefer it to not be on a major holiday & also before it gets too hot in Moab.

Absolutely! Thoroughly enjoyed last year's. :D

Thanks, everyone. I'm looking at Saturday, May 18. It's the only weekend I'm available in May.

Count me in barring unseen circumstances. Let me know when you want to make this a feature message.

If I can get the time I'd love to make it up this year.

I missed last year but was there the year before. I will certainly attend if my schedule allows.

If i can escape Richmond, VA, I would love to make it out and put some faces with some names, check out the Moab scene and visit your gallery! I haven't been there since the digital age!

I'm interested.

18th is good. Barring fire, flood, or other natural disaster I'll be there.

Very much enjoyed last years event.

Not entirely sure my plans - May 18 is my 50th and a number of options available - the most likely is that my offroading friends from Denver and Texas will also be in Moab. So we'll see what happens.

May 18th sounds good. Thanks for organizing this again.

I always want to make it out but life always gets in the way. Perhaps this year will be the year......
Plus I want to check out the work you've done to the FJ

I'll have to see if I can make it this year. I miss Moab.

I'll try to make it this year, as I may be out there on the 18th anyway.

Sounds like there's plenty of interest. May 18, 2013 is officially the 3rd Annual Moab Spring Fling!

Does anyone have a mini-workshop they'd like to present? I'll offer up the gallery for meeting space if anyone would like to do something similar to Bill Pelzmann's excellent focus stacking presentation last year.

Let's plan on another picnic at the park mid-day as that's always a ton of fun. Of course, we'll photograph sunrise and sunset on Saturday and, if anyone is interested, we could do sunset on Friday and sunrise on Sunday.

Is there any interest in a group campout on Friday the 17th? Any other ideas for this year's event?

I don't really have anything to present but if weather permits I'd like to do some night sky shooting, maybe Tower Arch or Double Arch.

I'll be car camping and I plan on rolling in the afternoon of the 17th so a group camp would be cool. If we do that, would anyone be interested in a Seafood Boil? I've got a pretty good recipe and can toss in the stock pot and bring along the potatoes and corn and some (but not all) of the seafood.

Look forward to seeing ya'll in May.

I'd go if it was in March. I'm dying for a photo trip.

I hopefully should be able to make it, it was a great time last year. A group campout sounds like a great idea, the Castle Valley overlook spot? I could offer a presentation on star trails or night photography if anyone is interested.

Count me in! Any day works as I'm just a two hour drive away.
And thanks so much for hosting this event, Bret. :toast:
A 'starscape'/night photography presentation sounds terrific!

I'm in for Castle Valley Overlook and definitely in for a night shot presentation by the master.
Posted by Don Jennemann on February 6, 2013 at 11:17 AM
I'm in for camping also, I will be bringing a friend, so count me as 2.

Hey Mods, Any thoughts towards moving this thread up or making it sticky?
