Angry Pintail
Hello to everyone!
I have enjoyed your photo's while away and fixing things around the house and glad to finally be back and part of our special group. Here is a photo taken last spring that I like of a pintail at Ridfefield NWR.

I spotted this Northern Pintail sitting in grass overlooking a slough at the Ridgefield Nat'l wildlife refuge. I thought how unusual a find as he was posing alone, no mate, while their were a hundred or more pintails in a pond not far away. While composing the shot thru the viewfinder he suddenly jumped up and out of the frame. I looked up just in time to see a northern harrier that had made a very threatening low pass at him. The harrier returned for another look and the pintail was captured in the slough being very vocal about how upset he was with the threat.

Larger version available, thanks for stopping!

It's nice to see you back Craig! Nice details in the larger version. I like the eye contact and the open mouth. He definitely looks upset.

Good to see you, Craig!! Great looking shot that reminds me how much I enjoyed Ridgefield last year. Fun reading the story, too. Brave to be out there with the harrier still around. Love the attitude! The background makes a lovely counterpoint of color to accompany the pintail.
