It must be a bit of a shock to the system, Keith. We'll look forward to seeing some Australian shots in due course.

Hi Keith welcome back.

Would look to loosing about 2/3rd of the pipe and reduce the blue slightly, although it does convey the coldness. Nice detail in the plumage and I like the splash of colour with the apple. Think you could have dropped the ISO a fraction.

Echo Davids comment re Oz.

Great pic of the bird it,self Kieth but the trouble is it looks too much like a set up. We all do it, I know.
Joking apart the apple looks a bit odd .
Isaac Newton would love it !
How often do you get an apple though, plonked on top of a piece of snow??? etc.,etc. Do like I did- wire one onto a branch !
I agree with Steves comments on this one regarding cropping etc

Apple behind the snow ;) but it is a fine shot of something I never get.

Kieth but the trouble is it looks too much like a set up. - I agree John, it's always a trick one as it's not really the season for windfall, but a good lesson in photographing in snow Keith.

Keith, Danny G years ago posted an image here with scattered segments in the snow, it worked nicely with the majority OOF and added a graphic element to the image.

Hi Keith, i like this picture very much. detail on the bird is really good, beautifully sharp and I like the pose. I don't care about the setup it's all about attracting the birds and feeding them, I think that is more important than the photo. It's a splendid shot , the only little nit I would have,is that there seems to be a little halo round the head and the top of the bird.

I do like this shot, yes we could argue about having the bait in the shot but over all i like the feel of it, it does need slightly warming though as it is a bit too blue for me :toast: :toast: :toast:

Hope the cold weather isn't too much of a shock for you! Great image of a Fieldfare and agree with Phil on it being slightly cool. Looks like santa brought someone a D4 for Xmas. Look forward to some Aussie images.

Thanks guys,Nick this was my first real go with my new toy and i must say that it coped very well with the very bad light i was working in(excuses! excuses!) looking forward to see what i can do with it.Steve have not got used to going over the 1000iso but looking forward to the results in the hands of a novice driver. Can't add a lot about the bait bit only to say my wife looked at the image and said that she liked it with the apple ,say no more :wavey:
:toast: Keith.
Kim thanks i can see what you mean when i look closely

She has good taste Keith.

Now with that new toy you have, as you say, NO excuses in nailing that shot, especially in low/poor light we suffer from over here, unlike OZ!

Lovely shot, with great detail on the bird. I'm not so keen on the perch though, but I think Steve's cropping suggestion would be an improvement here. :wavey:
