Spring Gathering
With temps in the 70's I'm thinking of Spring!
I'd like to offer up our Little Cabin in the Woods, near Jasper for our annual gathering. But... if anyone has another idea we can look at all the options.
I've tentatively reserved the cabin for April 12 and 13 but that might not be the best dates. I'm depending on your expertise for when you think the flowers will pop.
Here's a link to the cabin availability:

Let me know what you think.

I'm going to try and make it whenever it is!

It's never too soon to start the planning. Thanks for the offer of your "little" cabin in the woods Rod. I'm looking forward to seeing how the plans work out and if I can make it down this year I will.

Rod, that weekend sounds good. I am in for the gathering.

Never too soon to start planning. I keep hoping I can have the time to make it to one of these events but it looks like this is another year I will not. :frown:

Have fun and will want to see some images from it.

Can I call dibs on a bed vs the floor? LOL!!! I would love to come but can't make it that weekend. Have a wedding to attend that I have been waiting 12 years to happen.

I would like to make it down there this year if I can. I've been thinking that I would like to explore some of the spots that you folks enjoy so much and it would be great to do it with someone familier with the area. I have no idea about the best time so am happy to leave that to others. Keep us informed. Thanks.

Thanks for your generous offer, Rod! That weekend should work for me, and I'm sure we can find something in bloom.

Just wondering if this is on or not?
Posted by Bill Dark on March 20, 2013 at 10:17 PM
Yep, still on, Jan. We should probably start putting together a list of who's coming so we can start planning meals, etc.

I'm in, and I'm pretty sure Rod is since we're staying in his cabin  I think Tom also plans to come, and Ken is a maybe? Anyone else?

Put me down as a yes.

I'm still in. Looking forward to it.

Hi all, been awhile since I shared anything here on the CSNP forum but I do still like to pay attention to things. I sure would like to come down and enjoy some Arkansas springtime again. I am going to plan on coming with the only issue being around my dad's health at the moment. I am going to plan on being there by late in the afternoon on the 12th. Even though I was there at Rod's cabin some years ago I have no idea how to get to it. Would someone be able to email some directions to me or better yet maybe an address that I could put into a gps.

Looking forward to seeing everyone and exploring some great Arkansas nature.
Thanks
Brad

Hey Brad, glad to hear from you. Rod is supposed to be back from his trip to New Zealand, so we should be firming things up in the next few days. I bet he can give you directions. Look forward to seeing you at the gathering.

Greetings all.
If you will email me at photo@bluffspring.com I will send you a link to a google doc that will have directions to the cabin for next weekend.
The google doc also has places for you to sign up to bring whatever you want for the meals.
Let me know if you have trouble accessing the file.

Just curious, should I plan on camping in a tent, or is getting a sleeping room in Jasper a better choice? I have never been to the cabin before, so I don't know the options.

Jan, I will try to answer your question based on my experience at Rod's Cabin. There should be plenty of room for the group to sleep in Rod's cabin, I usually bring a sleeping bag and a pad to roll out on the floor. I am going to make a post on the board that is not a sticky and see if we can get a head count of those planning to attend.

Jan,
Plenty of floor space in the cabin. If the snoring gets too loud you can even go to the basement! :)

Due to some logistical issues with my house sitter, I'm not sure at this point when I'll get to the cabin. There's no need to include me in the meal plans - I'll bring something or will have already eaten. See you guys this weekend!

Anywhere inside is good for me. :) Also, what is a good time to arrive on Friday?
Posted by Bill Dark on April 11, 2013 at 10:24 AM
I received a rush order for 5 canvas prints late yesterday that have to finished by Tuesday, so it looks like I may not get there until Saturday. After the protective finish is dry enough to stretch, I think I'll head toward Rod's Saturday afternoon, and shoot for awhile Sunday morning. The area around the Buffalo has received about an inch and a half of rain over the past few days, so the creeks should be looking pretty nice for the weekend.

I hope you make it Bill. It will be good seeing you again.

Jan, I am planning on heading that way around lunch tomorrow, so I will be there mid afternoon between 3 and 4 pm. Rod told me he plans to be in the area all day Friday scouting locations.

If it work out we can do an afternoon shoot if you are up for it. I am bringing a guest that is a member of the Photo Allicance of Fort Smith, I hope to get him to join our group.

Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow.

For some reason I can not access the spreadsheet, so I wanted to let everyone know I am bringing baked beans and potato salad to go with Jan's dinner selection of pork tederloin.

Sounds good. I will try to get there around the same time.
