Well, this is my first post in quite awhile. Been under the knife for the last four months with 2 knee surgeries. The last 3 weeks, I have finally been able to get out without too much trouble and thought I would start with a few duck shots over the last couple of weeks. I felt a bit rusty. Need to shack off the cobwebs!
I have to make my way through a lot of posts to try and catch up on what is going on int he forum and I'm looking forward to it.
I thought I would start with this composite so I can include a bit of a larger version. I think it looks better large personally.

#7 Hooded Merganser at his Best (this seemed like a good one to finish on) because he just seems satisfied.

All very nice, but #7 is awsome!

Kurt, I like the pose you caught in #2.
From the expression, looks like the crawfish has the hen and not the other way around.

#2! It quacks me up!

It's great to see you back here, Kurt. No one photographs wildlife as well as you. All of these are superb images as to be expected, and none need explaining.
#'s 2, 5 & 7 are standouts, though. I hope you get back to 100% physically real soon!

cool shots, Kurt. love the pose in #2, and I like the smug and satisfied look you described very well in #7. I've never seen a shoveler's head show blue--that's neat too.
