Whitby Steps at Sunset & REPOST
:wavey:

I found this shot on my hard drive which i have always ignored. but i thought i would have a go at it and was interested in your thoughts..

Now I do know it strays a bit from the natural theme of the forum, but sometimes something a bit different is good!

as ever all C@C welcomed

Looks good to me Phil and surely the grass qualifies as nature. Perhaps crop the left just inside the first upright post. The post looks at a slightly odd angle and it would also serve to move that cracking lamp a bit closer to the thirds line on the left which will help the balance of the pic IMHO

That is a cracking shot Phil with the last of the rays touching the steps and wall which lead the eye perfectly into the picture. One of your best IMHO matey! Re the nature theme I am sure if you look closely there wil be some seagulls in the shot!

I agree with Bob that the dominant lamp post needs to be on a thirds line, or at least close to it. The trouble is that you also need that harbour entrance on a thirds as well to balance the picture. Whilst cropping, the horizon is dipping slightly to the right and needs levelling. However, it is a very pleasant scene and caught at an ideal time of day.

:wavey: Ok so a repost based on suggestions, took a while as i noticed by weird distortion the lighthouses were falling over, now they are not. Not quiet on a third as i loathe to crop but nearly i do think it is more balanced. Thanks again :toast: :toast: :toast:

John cheers, had to wait an age for there to be no one going up the steps  :wavey: :toast:
