On Saturday, 27 photographers from central and eastern Kansas braved the cold for a sunrise shoot at Maxwell Wildlife Refuge in central Kansas. Temps were in the upper 20s, but the wind was light, so it wasn't too bad. This was the second weekend this year for "Freeze Your Buns 2"; last year participants faced single digit temps, thus the name :). We rode in 2 trams, and were given close encounters with the elk and bison herds. It was a great morning. Here is one of my shots; I think both the bison and our tram were moving during this photo.

Now that sounds like a fun event!! I really like when you can get a good group together and do something like that. A certain fun to do something different in a group and then go get some good food together.

Very cool image Rob. No pun intended. Do they do this in any other season? I touched a bison once across a picket fence. He jumps straight up in the air, and I took off running!

The catchlight in the Bison's eye really makes the shot for me, Rob. Thanks for sharing.

Looking good Rob. Wish we could have been out on the same tour this time around. Looks like we both had fun at Maxwell.

Jan, I heard that they will do a summer shoot for flowers.
Wayne, I was on call the weekend before, or I would have been there. Maybe next time. It was a great morning and lots of fun.
