Cross Fissures
Went to Black Canyon on my day off, my orignal plan was to hike down to the river but my planned parking spot was buried unbder several feet of plowed snow--so on to plan 'B'!
Snowshoed out to Cross Fissures for sunrise...

I love the light and composition in #1.

Hmm... hiking down that steep trail with ice and snow!
I think plan B was the more prudent choice.

Nicely done Stan! You don't see a lot of photos from the Black Canyon in the winter. I really like #2, killer composition!

I love #1, Stan. Beautiful comp, and truly gorgeous light. I agree with Ryan; very few photos of this fascinating place in the winter.

Stan, I wish you would have gotten about 4 ft closer to the drop-off to eliminate the foreground bush. Isn't there some kind of make shift plank you can scootch out onto to shoot straight down? In all seriousness, your B Canyon image set is very beautiful and quite inspiring. I do prefer the first image of the bunch.

Now you've got another fine series from there, Stan. I like the cool palette in these. And, I like #1 the best in this set, too. See you tonight! :wavey:

Nice series Stan. I like the light equally in both 1 and 2, but I like the comp better in 1. Nice work!

Really like that subtle light in the first image.

That first shot is exceptional, Stan.

I like the first image as it has more depth, variation in brightness from side to side, and leads to the far peak.

You hit some nice light. I really like the first image. I also wonder if some type of a pano crop on it might work well, contrasting the mountain and the edges of the gorge.
