D7000 500mm f4 ISO 200 1/800s at f7.1 monopod.
Decided to try for mountain hare on my day off yesterday and with a clear blue sky and a temperature inversion I set off up my mountain with a heavy sack and a light heart. Alas with the sun at my back I had the wind at my back also and most of the hares took one sniff and vanished over the horizon (must bathe more regularly )
Eventually I came across one hare who had no sense of smell and got within range. Another hare came and a chase ensued and I manged to get a shot of the hare running on snow in its winter coat something which I had wanted to achieve but dared not hope for....and the sun was shining too! Later on I came across some very confiding ptarmigan which has added to my portfolio and which I will share with you soon. Just as a matter of interest I also came across a pair of golden plover at 2,700 feet so they have already started to return to their breeding grounds.
Many thanks for all the comments on my last post.
Nick.
