Going for a bimble 2.
D7000 500mm f4 ISO 160 1/1250s at f7.1 monopod.

Taken on Monday at a height of approx. 2,900 feet in glorious sunshine with a temperature inversion and I didn't see another human all day. :jump:

This was a stunning male ptarmigan who had a pure white plumage (many seem to have some black on them) and a gorgeous red eyebrow who was very confiding and pretty much ignored me. Makes a nice contrast to my other bimble image taken in near white out conditions. My soul yearns for these high places and every time I visit them I come away with some cherished experiences and memories.

Many thanks for the kind comments on my hare image, greatly appreciated.

Nick. :wavey:

Wonderful capture, detailed and that red really stands out. I expect I'd be far too busy shivering to take any photos, so I take my hat off to you! :toast:

Beautifully exposed (probably in more ways than one)!

Excellent. The bird is a tiny bit left for me but no big deal.

I like the comp and the line of the shadow away from the bird clinches it for me
