I currently use a pair of EOS3 with the PBE2 booster and don't want to loose any performance when changing to a DSLR so the 1DMKIIN seems to be the right choice by spec/financial.
As I have never used a lower spec DSLR is the 1DMKIIN going to be too big a leap to take in one go or do I need to ease myself in ? Which if I'm honest I do not want a lower spec camera !
Also I currently have slides scanned and use Photoshop elements 4. Would I need to buy the full version or will elements 4 cope with the 1DMKIIN's files etc ? I only do basic manipulation, crops, sharpening, colour and light adjustments and resize web images.
Hi Nick
I went from an EOS 1V and 3 to a 20d and 1d2,You will have absolutly no problems crossing over,The 1d2n is a great camera, fully featured and great image quality,I would get some external hard drives, dont know about the photoshop as i use CS but cant imagine why elements wont support the 1D shouls be able to check on adobes web site-Go for it-jessops doing great deals on 1d2n at the mo and offer 1 years interest free which may help
The 1D11 is just as easy, or hard, to use as any DSLR.
The advantage that you will have is that after using the EOS3 you will be familiar with the actual camera side of the 1D11, and be aware of the functions etc that it offers.
One thing to be aware of is that the viewfinder looks very small when you first use it, especially coming from an EOS 1 or 3 series film camera.
As to which PS version you use?
Your choice really. I've never used Elements so couldn't comment on ease of use etc, but for basic manipulation it looks to have everything.
I have recently gone with the 1DMkIIn and have no problem recommending it to you. If you used the PBE2 then the 1D is the best way for you to go. I use Elements 3 and 4 and both cope very well with the files. I'd recommend (imho) you look at RawShooter Essentials as a RAW converter as it is a free download and works well with the 1D files.

As always your advice is most welcome.
