Ripping Off Kane
I liked Kane's idea so much i stole it
I wasn't sick, at least no physically, and the whole shoot from start to processed pics only took an hour. I improvised with extra virgin olive oil, then i got bored and switched to dishwashing liquid.
I'll work on the music video next time...

I prefer the extra virgin over the detergent.
#2 is especially appealing.

I couldn't find a link online to describe the technique. Could someone point me in the right direction? I'd really like to try this out. It's such a departure from what I normally do and way different from what anyone at the local galleries has to offer, so why not?

No link needed, Elaine--that takes all the fun out of it. Maybe some time ill compare notes with Kane cause im sure his approach was much different; mine was low tech--basically pour water in a glass dish, dump in some oil, use natural sunlight, prop up a cd so it diffracts a spectrum over the water, and use a macro lens--that's pretty much it! Experiment..

Thanks Stan! I found a video that used a piece of glass raised up off the floor with a glass bowl placed on top. Fill bowl with water and oil, place something colored, whatever you want underneath the bowl, add light of some kind (man-made or natural) and snap away. They didn't use a macro lens, but didn't get the same stunning results that you did. I guess just experimenting is the way to go.

Hi Stan, its a little difficult to critique this stuff. I suppose it comes down to what I prefer for my eyes only. They're all interesting to me!

Just fun stuff, Stan. The possibilities on this look endless.
