Ptarmigan small in frame
D7000 500mm f4 ISO 160 1/1250s at f8 monopod.

Another shot of the confiding male taken after he had seen off another male who had intruded into his territory.

Would appreciate your thoughts on the comp as I have left the bird smaller in frame to keep the sky in. Please view large.

Many thanks for all your comments on my last post.

Nick

Works well for me the larger version even more so. Nick I rolled the larger one down a tad eliminating the lower line of horizontal stone which IMHO enhances still further.

Ask a composition this really works for me, it's a splendid shot, and best of all so far. :toast:

I think I'd take off the bottom bit of snow too here Nick, but still a lovely shot. :toast: :toast:

Thanks for the feedback folks, wasn't too sure about that bottom line of snow myself and on reflection it does look good without it.

With or without the snow, it is an excellent addition to an already superb series.
