I'm going on a workshop (my first photography class/workshop) to White Pocket this June and would like to know any suggestion, things to make sure to see there. or other ideas while there. We are camping out so we should have sunset, sunrise, and if the weather works out, star shots(moon is late rising and in the waning crescent.
TIA
John

Really not much to say that you won't see on your own. It's a relatively small area and your workshop leader should know all of the best spots to photograph. If you're driving out there with your own vehicle, make sure you have a good stout 4WD with high clearance and that it's in tip top shape mechanically, and bring along plenty of water and food. That's about the last place in the world you want to get stuck or run low on provisions.
Who is leading your workshop?

Dan Ballard and Joseph Roybal are leading this one. They will take take myself and one other participant out to White Pocket for overnight and full day, then the next day and a half into Antelope/Rattlesnake Canyons with the 10 other people. All sunrises and sunsets are part of the plan. According to the web site, looks like 9 of the 12 slots are signed up for. I also plan on an extra day on the way back possibly in Monument Valley.

Maybe bring a golf umbrella for some mid-day shade, and non-greasy sunscreen (I like the Neutrogena spray). If the first part of June, the yellow mule ear flowers should be blooming. Have a good trip. It's one of my favorite places.

Looks like they'll take good care of everything then. Best of luck and light!
