Curlew

One from the Dales, Curlew sat atop a dry stone wall.

Please view the large version.

Any views on how the processing looks would be appreciated.

There are a few more shots on the blog for those interested.

Cracker Andy, and I like the blog shots too, particularly the second and third images - either of which I rate more than this one; and as I said, this one's a belter!

Green with envy as it's a bird I've never managed to get a single good shot of.

Top series sir :toast: :toast:

Thank you very much, Andy. The second image on the blog was my favourite, but I thought it was lacking a little room at the bottom of the image ( poor composition on my part ) otherwise I would have posted that one.

Hi Andy, be nice if there was a bit more separation with the tail feathers and rock. Killer BKG! Have you tried it without the RH rock and just having the muted green?

Cheers Steve, I thought about it, but decided to leave it as shot. There is a image on the blog, where the Curlew is preening, that was shot from a slightly different angle, excluding the righthand side rock and to be honest it makes for a cleaner image.

Good one Andy.
Like the rock vegetation too.

'it makes for a cleaner image.' - Indeed it does Andy, even for me being 6500 miles away, it looks good. Makes the image a little different to see one capture on the wall, although often I have seen them up on the Dales & Moors doing exactly what you have described.

They're all crackers Andy, not sure I could choose between 1,2 and 4. The bg is superb on 1, the pose I prefer on 2, and the light is lovely on 4! :toast: :toast:

Cracking image Andy. Images 2 & 4 are my faves on the blog. You should go to Mull in late May/early June. The Curlews are quite approachable. This one walked across the road in front of me and is a full frame shot hence BIF.

Its a cracker Andy but the much warmer 4th shot on your blog is the clear winner for me
