First Damselfly
20D, 180/3.5 Macro, ISO200, 1/125 @ f8, EV-2/3, 550EX + Diffuser as fill at -2 2/3, Gitzo 500 + BH1, C1pro + CS2.

Hi,

Posting from my laptop on a dial up conection, managed to find some of the first Damselflies at one of my local reserves, this one I believe is a teneral stage of a Blue Tailed Damselfly, (Have to confirm but am away from my references at the moment).

Sorry Tim, just had to get this one in

All the best

Ah Phil, I'm in agony as a West Ham Fan now you crush me with this, it's a hard world. I did see some Large Red's, funnily enough yesterday but they weren't landing on photogenic material.
Nice shot, perhaps to much reflection on wings but early days yet eh.

I like Phil. Contrary to Tim I think the reflections on the wing are rather interesting - giving a rather glassy (and classy  ) look to the wings.

great shot and a fine start. good position with the insect's body parallel to film plane. Really nice and sharp throughout with good depth of field and an unluttered background. Difficult to ID without antenodals but probably right with blue-tailed.

Looks good.
Would shooting at a lower angle to remove the nettle tip from above the beastie have been possible?

Nice work Phil.

Had my first Damdel Fly at my pond yesterday ( a Large Red) but unfortunately it seemed attracted to an old steel pipe that was laying in the garden and it would not land on anything else!

Hi Phil

A nice shot to start the damsell season off with. Detail and sharpness is superb although the bright background splodge is distracting. But the important aspect to this shot is that I now know Summer has arrived because Phil has posted his first damsell shot of the season. I expect a quick response from Tim and his new fancy camera

cheers
