In January I went west after a snow event passed though west Texas and New Mexico. I went out to the Lost Mesa area that I frequent in southern New Mexico. Like always, I was the only one out on this open range BLM land. The snow was still sticking around, especially on the north facing slopes. It added a new dimension to the big open quality of the location and this scene made me think of something you might see in Alaska on the tundra (forget any cactus you might see here). Or maybe a glimpse back to the Pleistocene era.
It was a treat to see snow like this in the desert.
