Just curious if anyone has any experience with this tripod? Although I don't envision this lightweight tripod replacing my Arcatech head and Manfrotto tripod for most situations, for longing hikes and backpack trips, it could be a great alternative.
Considering its weight is only 2.6 lbs and folded up it is about 12" long, it would fit quite nicely on or in a backpack. Of course one does give up some length as it extends to 51". But that would sufficient for me, since I have an articulating screen. It will support about 9 lbs, so obviously it wouldn't be adequate for DSLRs with uber weight lenses.

It's pretty interesting, Ken. I like how it has a center post hook to add some weight, and comes with an Arca-Swiss clamp, and for only $139. You can find them on Amazon, and the reviews are generally positive. I think it would easily hold my 5DII and 24-105.

I can't help you with any first hand experience, Ken, but this video, along with the Amazon reviews, is quite informative:

I'd love to find a small, sturdy, and reasonably priced travel tripod.
I'm not sure I'd ever use this one fully extended with a full frame DSLR. That last leg extension doesn't look much thicker than a pencil !!!
Be sure to let us know what you think if you do decide to give it a try.

Thanks for the link, Bill. It answered a few lingering questions I had, particularly macro use.
Considering the price, I agree that getting a decent ball head and Arca-Swiss plate is not something one would normally expect at this price level. For those with a heavy camera/lens, in the portrait orientation, it would be necessary to have an L bracket or Arca-Swiss plate matched to the camera. But in reality, I suspect that is what most of us have now with our current tripods.
Wish I would have had this tripod yesterday in RMNP...I could have provided the definitive answer about its stability in wind!
