I'm trying to make a composite from 2 images shot with different cameras a 12 mp Nikon D5000 and a 16 mp D7000. Is this possible? I set it all up, resized the smaller image but I can't drag the sky over to the larger file. The move tool in CS5 just won't grab it. Thanks for any help.
Something else is causing the problem then. You can most certainly composite images from different cameras. What happens when you try to move the image? Get both images open on the screen. Select the Move Tool (V), then click on the layer icon for the image you want to move, and drag it onto the target image. You might get some warning about bit depth if they are different bit depths, but it will move.
I do this using CS5 to paste a 12 mp sky on a 21 mp foreground. I resize the 21mp foreground to the same size as the 12mp sky, then make a mask on the foreground image, copy the sky using “select > all, – Edit >copy – then Edit > paste”.
I enjoy being able to move the sky in order to arrange the cloud pattern to my liking.
